I saw so many “Appreciation Weeks” for characters this summer, which started off very successful (like Tiana week), but suddenly there were so many weeks to keep up with, it got overwhelming. So I figured I would make this appreciation month, celebrating one lady a day. This Challenge is one where you can chose which ladies you want to appreciate. I don’t expect anyone to make a post every day, which is totally fine. If you don’t want to appreciate a certain lady, that’s fine too. I’ve tried to find ways to include as many Disney ladies as possible, with special days that allow you to chose how many/which ladies you want to include those days. You can do gifs, screencap graphics, fan art, drabbles etc. It doesn’t matter to me!
Special Days - These days are here so I could fit as many ladies as possible in this appreciation month. So I’ve grouped some ladies together, and you can decide if you want to celebrate just one lady per group, or multiple ladies. You can put them in one post, or have multiple posts / day.
November 7: Villains
November 14: Friends and family members (Examples: Charlotte, Audrey, Eudora, Willow Tweed, Chicha, Queen Elinor, Nakoma, Anita, etc)
November 21: Fairies (Pixie Hollow fairies, The Blue Fairy, Merryweather, Flora, Fauna etc)
November 24: Children (Wendy, Alice, Shanti, Boo, Vanellope etc)
November 26: Pixar Ladies
November 27: Package Era Films (Fantasia, Three Caballeros, Adventures of Ichabod and Mr Toad etc - Fantasia 2000 can be included here too)
November 30: Pick your favourite Disney lady/ladies (or ones you wanted to celebrate who didn’t make it on the list) and create something for her! (For the challenge I was sticking to mainly Pixar and WDAS movies (obviously some are neither, such as Giselle, Mary Poppins and Sally), but you can go for live action here if you want too!
This starts November 1st. I just posted it super early so people can prepare and decide what days they want to participate on etc. This way you can also make sets before and just put them on a scheduled queue!
Things to Remember
-Tag your stuff with “Disney Ladies Month" in the first five tags, otherwise it won’t show up. (I’m tracking it)
- You can also tag it with “disneyismyescape” because I check that too!
-Please do not use pastel colouring on Women of Colour. Click here for reasoning
-Please do not repost gifs without proper credit to the OP. the website disneyscreencaps has a lot of screencaps of almost (if not all) the disney movies. I do not reblog posts that have reposted gifs w/o proper credit.
-Please stick to human/humanoid ladies (So mermaids, centaurettes, Captain Amelia, Fairies are all acceptable), try to stay away from animals. But on day 30, if you really want to, you can have animals included since it’s a “Free Day”
- If you want to use one of these banners as a header for your challenge, ask me and I can give you one without writing.
- Anita was originally on the 29th, but I switched her for Esmeralda. If you still want to do Anita that day, you can.
- Feel free to include ladies already used in the “Group” days. So if you wanted to add the Tremaines to the Villains as well as Friends and Family, that’s fine. Or if you wanted to add Lilo to the Children day, and you already used her in the Nani and Lilo day, that’s fine!
-This Challenge is one where you can chose which ladies you want to appreciate. I don’t expect anyone to make a post every day. Pick your top five characters or something. Do them all. It’s all up to you!! I’m just doing each day because I want each day to have at least one post in it lol.
Hullabaloo is a 2D hand-drawn animated steampunk film that hopes to help preserve the dying art of 2D animation. We want you to join us in making a short film that will showcase the world of Hullabaloo. In addition to helping save 2D animation, Hullabaloo aims to encourage girls to explore science and adventure. The film’s two protagonists are both young women and both scientists who use their intellect, wits, and courage to fight greed and corruption. We hope that Veronica Daring and her friend Jules will serve as positive role models for girls of all ages and encourage them to get excited about science, engineering, and sci-fi.
For more information about Hullabaloo, its creators, and how you can help bring this story to life, visit here! Their goal is to reach $80,000 by October 1st, 2014, so every donation helps and help spread the word!
This man has been one of my biggest inspirations since I can remember. Even when I was 4 and barely understood what actors were, I always recognised him and would point at the TV and say ‘there’s the funny man’. They think that his death may have been suicide which makes it even sadder because he was always portraying funny characters with so much wit and happiness yet he is so sad that he would take his own life. People glamorize Hollywood lifestyles and fame yet it really takes a toll on some of the grandest people to ever walk the earth. He kept his spark of madness right up until the end. The best thing about actors is that they live on through their characters. They never truly leave us.
Genie, you’re free
i am literally crying right now
I really am saddened by Robin Williams death but I am worried about they way tumblr is going about this. I am scared that these posts are supporting and even sensationalizing the suicide of a very troubled individual.
Robin Williams was a comedic genius, revolutionary thinker, deep beautiful person, and beloved man but he was also very troubled he ended his life because he had a lot of inner demons. He didn’t release himself from some sort of metaphoric shackles, he was broken by his own mind to the point that he didn’t feel like his life should go on.
It’s alright to mourn this wonderful person, but don’t try putting a positive spin on a situation that is everything but positive.
How is anyone in any way supporting his suicide? Everyone is taking about how genuinely torn they are that it happened. Positive spin? I really think you need to explain what you’re going on about because I have seen many posts on tumblr about his death and not one of them have made it out to be a positive thing. If you’re referring to me saying “Genie, you’re free” that’s not making it out to be a good thing that he’s died but more a good thing that now he’s in a better place. He has escaped these, as you put it, ‘Inner demons’ and can now be free in paradise without the weights of the world holding him down. Of course, it would have been idyllic for him to find a way to escape these demons and keep breathing but that’s not how the world works sometimes.
Someone has died, my dear, and people grieve in different ways and feel differently about death and suicide and what it all means. The worst thing you can do is put somebody down for the way they are grieving and the way they cope with the idea of somebody taking their own life. So don’t.
all i know
is that i’m lost
